NORFOLK--Fire units were on scene Monday night of a house fire in the 3600 block of Mississippi Avenue.

Firefighters were called around 6:38 p.m. and when they arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two story house.

The fire was brought under control by 7:30 p.m.

The occupants, two men and a woman,  told firefighters they heard popping upstairs and then the lights went out.  They went to their electrical panel and tried to turn the power back home and heard a loud boom.

Dominion Virginia Power was called to the scene and the fire is under investigation.

One firefighter suffered some heat exhaustion and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
