HAMPTON--- Transportation leaders are looking into rush hour tolls at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel, a concept known as congestion pricing.

It's considered the best short-term option for relieving congestion in the region.

They will have a close eye on tolls starting next year on the Midtown and Downtown Tunnels.

New traffic patterns at these crossings could determine whether or not rush hour tolls will begin on the HRBT.

"If I have no choice, I would hate to see a toll come," said driver William Taylor.

Transportation officials are also looking into widening I-64 on the peninsula, something that could be paired with tolls to relieve traffic.
