NORFOLK -- Police say a house fire turned into a meth investigation.

Firefighters responded to the home in the 3200 block of Vimy Ridge Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson says the fire started in the kitchen and did not extend into any other room.

During the firefight, drews found materials consistent with meth production, so police were called to investigate, said spokesman Officer Daniel Hudson.

Hazmat teams set up at the home and spent all night removing items from the house.  They were still on the scene at 4:30 a.m.Tuesday.

Shawanda Coleman watched as her next door neighbor's house became a crime scene.

"I have an 18-year-old child and I don't want him around it at all. It's just scary to have my neighbors do something like that," Coleman said.

Police say one person is being questioned, but no arrests have been made.

No one was hurt.
