HAMPTON-- Starting Friday at 9 p.m. the eastbound lanes of the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel will close once again.
The work will take place overnight and the tunnel will reopen in the morning at 9.
"We're a lot more confident with the plan we have in place for this weekend," said Lauren Hansen with VDOT.
Andrew Kaufman at the Wards Corner Shell Station got a front-row seat to the traffic frustration several weekends ago.
The gas station sits just off I-64, where drivers were stuck in traffic for hours.
"We sold a lot of gas," Kaufman said.
VDOT says it won't be that way this weekend.
The James River Bridge will not close for work, and they've put a temporary hold on other roadwork in Hampton and Norfolk.
Driver Ryan Baker says the overnight closure is still an inconvenience.
"I'm speaking for the youth, 25 and under. It's a little bit difficult if you're talking about 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. because that's when people are starting to go out to come over to the southside," Baker said.
The closure times are as follows:
Friday, Oct. 19, beginning at 9 p.m. until Saturday, Oct. 20, at 9 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 20, beginning at 9 p.m. until Sunday, Oct. 21, at 9 a.m.
Sunday, Oct. 21, beginning at 9 p.m. until Monday, Oct. 22, at 4 a.m.
Traffic will be detoured to the I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel.
Motorists should expect up to a half-mile delay beginning at 9 p.m. until the work zone is cleared the following morning.
