NORFOLK-What route would be the best for getting light rail get to Naval Station Norfolk?

Three meetings next month will ask your opinion on possible routes to the world's largest naval base.

Just asking anyone who makes the drive each day and sits in backups on the Interstates and city roads.  Official says those roads are at capacity, creating an "incentive" for high-capacity alternatives. 80,000 vehicles enter and exit the world's largest naval base each day, according to the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission.

The Naval Station Norfolk Transit Extension Study is examining the potential impacts and benefits of various high capacity transit alignments that could connect The Tide to the base.

Hampton Roads Transit says the study also will look at transit needs for places like Old Dominion University and commercial districts in the City of Norfolk.

6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on:

-Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Holiday Inn, Virginia Beach-Norfolk Hotel and Conference Center, located at 5655 Greenwich Road
