NORFOLK-- Over a thousand people came out Wednesday night to vote in the Democractic primary caucus to choose a candidate for the vacant 89th House District seat in the state legislature.
The caucus pitted former Norfolk Vice Mayor, Daun Hester, against a TowneBank executive, Yvonne Allmand.
Hester prevailed tallying 840 of the votes, Allmand had 290.
On Sept. 4th, the 89th House District seat was vacated when Kenneth Cooper Alexander was elected to fill State Senator Yvonne Miller's seat after her death.

The Republicans have not named a candidate to oppose the Democrat.
