NORFOLK -- Officers said charges are pending against the driver of a car that hit a police cruiser Saturday.

Norfolk police said two officers were responding to a robbery alarm in the 800 block of East Little Creek Road just after 2:00 p.m.

They were heading westbound on East Little Creek Road, trying to cross Chesapeake Boulevard with their lights and sirens running.

Police said a gold Cadillac sedan was traveling southbound on Chesapeake Boulevard, failed to yield for the cruiser, and hit it as the cars entered the intersection. The impact pushed the cruiser into a maroon Infiniti sedan and a black Ford truck.

Three people in the Infiniti went to Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The officers went to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. with non-life threatening injuries.
