NORFOLK -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will open a new application center for its TSA Pre✓™ Application Program in Norfolk on Thursday.
TSA Pre✓™ is an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select screening lanes.
U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents will now be able to pre-enroll online at www.TSA.gov, make an appointment and complete their enrollment at the application center in Norfolk to verify their identity and provide documentation to confirm their citizenship/immigration status as well as to provide fingerprints.
TSA is currently in the process of expanding the Pre✓™ application program to more than 300 application centers across the country.
Last month, TSA extended TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening benefits to all members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Service members, including those serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Reserves and National Guard will now be able to enjoy the benefits of TSA Pre✓™. Service members just need to enter their Department of Defense identification number in their flight reservation and they will be permitted access to TSA Pre✓™ lanes at more than 100 participating airports nationwide.
