NORFOLK--- State Police are investigating a deadly accident that took place on Interstate 264 westbound at Ballentine Boulevard in Norfolk.
Police say the accident happened just after 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Two vehicles, a 1996 Nissan 200 and 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, were involved in the crash.
Sergeant Michelle Anaya confirms the driver of the Nissan, Tiara Glover of Portsmouth, was traveling west on I-264 when she hit a vehicle and ran off the road. Glover then hit the jersey wall forcing her car to flip several times before coming to a stop.
A passenger in the Nissan was able to get out before the car was struck by the Tahoe.
Police say that Glover died at the scene.
Her passenger was transported to Norfolk Sentara with non-life threatening injuries.The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Traffic at Ballentine was blocked off for almost three hours.
Investigators are trying to determine if Glover was wearing a seat belt or if alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
