NORFOLK (AP) -- A retired Norfolk city employee will spend six months in prison for taking bribes from a plumbing contractor.
Michael D. Brown also must serve six months on house arrest after he completes the prison term.
Media outlets report that the 67-year-old former city plumbing supervisor was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Norfolk.
Brown had pleaded guilty in April to one bribery count.
According to court documents, Brown received between $15,000 and $20,000 in cash, goods and services from Andrew Zoby Jr. In exchange, Brown gave Zoby preferential treatment regarding city contracts and work orders.
Zoby is serving a 15-month sentence. Another former city employee, Patrick Lambert, is serving a one-year sentence, for taking bribes from Zoby.
