NORFOLK -- Two Old Dominion University students were ordered by the court to put up a YouTube video on the dangers of making and having bottle bombs, but for more than a week, the video was not public online.
Chris Humphries and Donald Lorge pleaded guilty to being connected to making the bottle bombs near the school. Along with paying $6,035 in restitution and performing community service, the two were ordered to create the video.
13News accessed the video but it was unlisted to the general public. It could only be found if someone had the specific link to the video. It was not searchable.
"It was put up unlisted. I think there were some technical issues involved in that," said Joseph Myers, attorney for Chris Humphries.
The unlisted status changed to listed by Wednesday afternoon.
"Our Office received the video in a private online format and was in the process of reviewing it and communicating with the defense attorneys before having the video be posted publicly when you inquired about the video. Your inquiry, though it happened to come during the same time period of our review, did not prompt the change in status," said Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Amanda Howie.
Police officers and firefighters found out about the bombs on November 29, 2010 from a neighbor. Only the bomb making materials were found inside.
Myers said the two made the bombs for an art project for school.
Howie said the video is acceptable by the courts for the plea deal.
