NORFOLK -- An 8-year-old boy struck by a truck and trailer is expected survive.
It happened at about 5:30 p.m. on East Ocean View Avenue at Elnora Street.
"He was in the center lane, the turn lane, center, in between the four lanes," explained Tracy Trulodieski.
She and a co-worker at 905 Cafe and Grill were looking out at the road just before the 9-year-old and the trailer collided.
"He was coming back from 7-Eleven, trying to go home, and that green truck there that's got the trailer on it, I think he didn't see the trailer, and once the green truck had passed, he tried to dart across to beat the other cars, that, you know, were coming up, and he didn't make it," Tulodieski told 13News. "All I saw was he just got flipped up in the air and it knocked him out of his shoes, and, then he came down on the ground. It was terrible."
The child suffered multiple broken bones, but Saturday, police say the boy is expected to recover.
The driver stayed at the scene. Police have not said if any charges will be filed against him.
