UPDATE 6/24: Police have charged 25-year-old Michael Holley with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in connection with Friday's double shooting.
Police also charged 26-year-old Ronald Williams with attempted malicious wounding and use of a firearm.
Both suspects are currently being held in the Norfolk City Jail with no bond.
NORFOLK -- Police responded to a report of shots fired at a very busy shopping center on Tidewater Drive Friday night, but when they arrived they found no victims.
Police say eventually there were reports of two men who went to a local hospital with gunshot wounds, one with non-life threatening injuries, the other with serious, and possibly critical injuries. Police have now confirmed that the two victims were connected to the shooting on Tidewater Drive.
According to police, the second victim remains in serious condition. It's not known if the two victims knew each other. The motive also remains unknown.
People on the scene told 13News Now they heard 7-8 gunshots. Witnesses who were inside an ABC store said a group of men wearing red T-shirts started arguing with a customer who was on in his cell phone inside the store. The witnesses, who didn’t want to be identified said the argument got really heated.
“About that time, my friends and I, who are all women - we got really nervous and we said we have to get out of here. There were about 7 people outside when we walked outside and a few of them were hitting a pickup truck on the hood, knocking on it and saying: 'We're going to mess you up. You better watch it because we can shoot you',“ one witness said.
