Norfolk police release name of person killed in triple shooting

UPDATE 3/31: Police have charged 32-year-old Donte Brehon with murder and use of display of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail on no bond.

NORFOLK -- Police said 20-year-old Malik D. Earl of the 500 block of West 27th Street died in a triple shooting early Saturday morning.

Officer Daniel Hudson said emergency dispatchers received a call about a gun shot victim around 5:00 a.m.

Officers and members of Norfolk Fire and Rescue went to the 900 block of Trice Terrace and located three adult males with gun shot wounds.

One man was pronounced dead at the scene and the remaining two victims were taken to Sentara Norfolk General.

According to a press release from police, one of the victims suffered injuries considered critical and the other male has non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released the victims names and there are no details regarding potential suspects or a motive in the shooting.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the men were attending a party in the area before the shooting occurred.
