NEWPORT NEWS - Police say a woman walking on the sidewalk was struck by a car Friday morning.

It happened around 9:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Bland Blvd. in Newport News.

Police say witnesses saw the car got up on the curb and, after hitting the woman, someone got out to talk to her. After that, he got back in the car and the vehicle let the scene, police added.

The 43-year-old woman was taken to the hospital.

Authorities say the witnesses reported there were three men in the silver four door Honda. The driver was described as a black man, 25-30 years old, about 5’10”, 200 pounds, with short hair and wearing all dark clothing.
