NEWPORT NEWS-- Police have arrested a teenager they say stabbed a 41-year-old man Wednesday night during an incident involving his daughter.
Police have charged 18-year-old Taren Alexander Burkett of the 100 block of Beechwood Drive in Yorktown with 2 counts of kidnapping, aggravated assault and intimidation.
Police got the call for a stabbing around 6:57p.m. at Belgrave and Malden Roads.
Police spokesperson, Harold Eley, said Burkett was harassing a 15-year-old girl. When her father intervened Burkett allegedly hit the man in the face with a handgun and then stabbed him in the upper back.
The man was taken to the hospital with a wound that was not life threatening.
Police later learned there was an un-served order of protection barring Burkett from having contact with the victim's daughter.
In a vehicle Burkett had left at the scene were a 14 and 15-year-old girl who reportedly were brought to Newport News against their will.
