NEWPORT NEWS - A Newport News woman is charged with killing her brother during an argument Sunday night.
Investigators said 25-year-old Bryan Garnett II was visiting Latoya Garnett at her home on 21st Street when they started arguing Sunday night.
Nekisha Moore, who lives in the home, says she was upstairs, heard the argument and went to see what was happening.
"Her brother hit her, the part that I saw. He cocked back to hit her and then she went into the kitchen and got a knife. Then he picked up a Lysol can and as he was cocking back to hit her with it, she stabbed him," Moore described.
Mr. Garnett, who lived in Richmond, died at the hospital.
Moore also said Ms. Garnett's four children also witnessed the stabbing. They were staying with relatives after police took their mother into custody.
Garnett, 29, is charged with second degree murder.
Police have not released information about the dispute.
