Man wanted for robbery, shooting in Newport News arrested

NEWPORT NEWS -- A man was taken into custody following a tactical situation Sunday afternoon.

Police confirm that shortly after 1 p.m. officers responded to the 500 block of Adams Drive after receiving reports about a robbery and shooting suspect in the area.

After officers were unable to make contact with the suspect, tactical crews were called to respond.

Shortly after 3 p.m., a spokesperson with the police advised that a male suspect was in custody.

He has been identified as 22 year old Karlos Swarn of Newport News. Swarn was wanted in connection with a July 11th robbery on Tarrytown Court.

During the incident on Tarrytown Court the victim was also shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Swarn faces several charges including malicious wounding and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
