Police release surveillance video of hotel robbery

NEWPORT NEWS-- Newport News police released surveillance video Friday of a suspect they say robbed the Point Plaza Inn Hotel.

Police say the suspect entered the hotel located at 950 J Clyde Morris Blvd. around 4 a.m.

The clerk says the man handed over a note announcing the robbery and demanded cash. The suspect took the money and told her not to move or she would be shot.

Police say the suspect is a black male between 25 and 35 years old.  Police believe he is 6 feet tall and weighs between 160 and 190 pounds.  He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt,  glasses with yellow lenses and black jeans.

The suspect drove away in a silver-colored vehicle.
