NEWPORT NEWS-Police say a Newport News woman didn't get care for her child who was burned by hot bath water.

Authorities say 25-year-old Devvy Darlene Gage's three-year-old daughter has burns on her right foot and her bottom.

Gage was at a hotel on Jefferson Avenue earlier this week when the child was injured and provided inconsistent stories to how the girl was injured, said police spokesman Harold Eley.

Devvy Gage is charged with Cruelty and Injuries to Children and Failing to Secure Medical Attention.

The little girl and her five-year-old son are being in the custody of Child Protective Services. The little boy wasn't hurt.
