NEWPORT NEWS--Police say they arrested the parent of a Hines Middle School student on charges of threatening to bomb the school.on Tuesday. 

Latasha Lassiter Dennis, 32, of the 900 blk of Charlotte Drive in Newport News was arrested just before 10:00 a.m. at her place of employment.

Police began investigating the incident after being notified by the school's principal that Dennis had contacted the school around 3:42 p.m. on Monday. requesting to speak to a specific teacher. 

According to police spokesperson, Holly McPherson, when Dennis was unable to speak to the teacher due to the hour of the day, she made threats to blow the school up.

The charge against Dennis is a class 5 felony.
