NEWPORT NEWS -- Through tear-filled eyes, Kevin Kintner spoke to 13News Now about his 2-year-old Pit Bull, Butch.

Someone shot and killed the dog early Saturday morning during a robbery attempt in Pauls Trailer Park off Jefferson Avenue.

"He didn't do nothing. I have, I got go-carts. I got money," said Kintner. "They could have taken anything they wanted. They took my buddy."

Kintner told Newport News police that he was inside a home on Forest View Road at about 1:00 a.m. when 4 people started walking past the trailer. Through an open window, they asked for a cigarette.

Kintner explained when he went outside, the group forced him to the ground. 2 people had guns. They started shooting and killed Butch who was on a tether. Kintner said the people took nothing, and they ran off into woods surrounding the mobile home park.

In addition to police, Kintner reached out to PETA, and he posted something on Facebook post, hoping the attention will help find the people responsible for Butch's death.
