HAMPTON-- Thunderstorms passed through the Hampton Roads area late Friday night and early Saturday morning. Residents in Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach reported damage to property from fallen tree limbs.

There are residents in Hampton who are without power. Hampton Mayor Molly Ward said in a statement via Twitter, "Hamptonians should be prepared not to have power back until tomorrow. City opening shelters for those that need to keep cool."

In Newport News, overnight fire crews responded to several calls regarding power outages.

Dominion Power crews are working to help restore power to customers. For more information about outages, contact Dominion Virginia Power at 1-866-DOM-HELP.
