NEWPORT NEWS-- Police are investigating a shooting early Saturday that wounded a man and may have injured a second person.
Law enforcement responded to a call of gun shots heard in the 1100 block of 22nd Street where a party was being held at a residence, according to a police spokeswoman. When officers arrived, people at the home said the man who'd been shot left to go to the hospital for treatment.
Police also received information that there may be a second gunshot victim, but that has not yet been confirmed.
Police say they later came into contact with a 23-year-old man who had been driven to The Alley night club. He was suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh and foot. Officials say the man was then transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The victim told detectives that he was outside of the residence where the party was held when he was robbed by three men. While being robbed, the victim says some people from the party then came outside when one of the robbers fired a gun and struck him.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information can call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
