NEWPORT NEWS-- One person managed to escape a house fire without suffering from any injuries early Saturday morning.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, fire crews battled flames coming out of a window at a home in the 300 block of Barclay Road.

The person inside the home escaped through the back door.

The fire was under control within 20 minutes of the crews arriving on the scene.

A spokesperson for the Newport News Fire Department told WVEC.com that it was an electrical fire that started at an outlet.

The victim is staying with relatives. The Red Cross was not needed for assistance.
