NEWPORT NEWS - A Newport News woman has to repay more than $10,000 for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits she should not have gotten.

41-year-old Anne Michelle Frost pleaded guilty to welfare fraud earlier this month.

City spokeswoman Kim Lee says an anonymous tip was made to the Human Services’ Fraud Unit. Investigators determined Frost misrepresented her situation for 23 months.

Frost also received a five-year suspended sentence, was put on probation for a year and was disqualified from the SNAP benefits program for one year.
