NEWPORT NEWS-- Police and family continue to search for a woman who has not been seen or heard from in 10 days.

37-year-old Kathleen Haley of the 2800 block of West Avenue was last seen August 22, 2012 but friends and family said they haven't heard from her since September 1.

"Please, if anyone has any information where she might be, who she was with, call police so we can find her," Diane Roman, Haley's younger sister, said Monday.

Her dog is also missing from the home.

The family filed a report on Friday, September 7.

Roman says the responding officer didn't think there was sufficient evidence to file a missing person report.  Later that evening, she and her husband went to Haley's apartment, determined that items were missing and called police again. That time, officers decided there was enough evidence to file a missing person report.

A neighbor told 13News he saw what looked like blood marks on a mattress that was found in a dumpster, butt police wouldn't confirm whether it is connected to the investigation.

Police say there are items missing from her home and her car has not moved from its spot in front of her residence.

Family say Haley was extremely private and all they know is that she worked in a bar, they don't know which one.

"I wish we knew more about my sister so we knew where to go around and ask," added Roman.

Haley is white, about 5'10" tall and weighs 110 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.
