NEWPORT NEWS -- Newport News Police have taken a federal fugitive into custody.

The police tactical operations unit was on scene in the 500 block of Youngs Mill Lane in Newport News around 3:15 Thursday afternoon.  A standoff ensued with officers talking with suspect, Antwain Brisbon, at least once.

It ended shortly before 9 p.m. when police entered an apartment but didn't find him.

A short time later, the 27-year-old was arrested without incident in the 500 block of Youngs Mill Lane, the FBI stated.

A family member told 13News that Brisbon was visiting from South Carolina and was staying at the apartment.

He was wanted on charges relating to gang affiliation and drug distribution.

His sister-in-law confirmed that Brisbon is a member of the Bloods gang and learned this week that he was wanted.

She also said he was in town visiting his wife, who's in the Army.  She apparently moved to Newport News because of her orders to Ft. Eustis.
