NEWPORT NEWS -- Police have identified a suspect in an early morning double-shooting incident that took place Saturday in which a man was killed and a woman wounded.

The suspect was identified as 23 year-old Trudale Devon Terry. Warrants have been obtained charging him with murder, maiming and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Trudale Devon Terry is asked to call Newport News Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.

Police said 28-year-old Michael Deon Robinson of the 500 block of Bellwood Road, Newport News died as a result of his injuries. The woman who survived is a 41-year-old from Newport News.

Emergency personnel responded to a report of a man with gunshot wounds lying in the street at 22nd Street and Roanoke Avenue. When they found him, they took him to a local hospital, where he died a short time later.

At about the same time, public safety workers found a woman with a gunshot wound at 16th Street and Roanoke Avenue. Officers believe she was shot in the same area as Robinson, but she drove six blocks before realizing she had been hit. Police described her injury as "non-life threatening."

Detectives still are trying to determine exactly what happened: if the victims were together at the time of the shooting, if the woman was an unintended target, and if the case is related to recent shootings in the same area.

For investigative reasons, they said they can't release additional details at this time.

Police ask anyone with any information about the suspect, or any other information to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
