NEWPORT NEWS -- A man was rushed to the hospital after he was shot in Newport News Friday night.
Emergency crews responded to the shooting in the 600 block of 43rd Street around 8 p.m. Friday.
When authorities got to the scene, they found a 33-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen, according to Newport News police spokeswoman Holly McPherson. His injuries are considered serious.
Police say the victim was visiting an acquaintence when someone knocked at the door. He was then confronted by two males and was shot at some point during the encounter.
So far, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Newport News Police Department.
