NEWPORT NEWS -- A 10-year-old has confessed to setting a dumpster fire Wednesday near 16th Street and Ivy Avenue in Newport News, authorities said Friday.

Fire officials said there have been nearly a dozen dumpster fires in the area in the last month.

Although the juvenile only confessed to one of the fires, officials said he's given police the names of other suspects.

The fire marshal said last week juveniles were most likely behind the criminal activity.

Anyone with information should call Crime Line at 1-888-lock-U-UP.
