NEWPORT NEWS -- A driver led police on a chase from Newport News to Norfolk late Thursday.
23-year-old Kyle Jones wouldn't stop during at a checkpoint on Hampton Roads Center Parkway around 11:30 p.m., police spokeswoman Holly McPherson told WVEC.com. He went up on the curve and drove through the checkpoint, failing to stop when directed by the officers, she recounted.
Officers say Jones got onto I-64 east and drove through the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel but crashed at a construction area near Granby Street. They say he hit the guard rail and two other vehicles before stopping and being arrested.
Jones, who lives in Newport News, was charged with charged with felony evade and elude, reckless driving, revoked license-3rd offense, DUID and 2 counts of concealed weapon (brass knuckles).
