NEWPORT NEWS -- Four of five suspects in the March 28 robbery of Old Point National Bank on Warwick Boulevard in Newport News are under arrest.
The most recent arrests came Monday, April 16 when D'Angela Byrd, 25, and Tony Lynn Scott, 44, were taken into custody in their hometown of King George County, police spokesman Lou Thurston told WVEC.com.
William Raymond Taylor was the first to be arrested -- on April 4. Police say Taylor was wearing a traffic vest and carried a handgun when he held up the bank just seven minutes after the 9:00 a.m. opening.
There were no customers in the bank.
Taylor, 51, is charged with one count each of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, entering a bank while armed with the intent to commit larceny, and conspiracy to commit a felony, two counts of robbery, four counts of abduction and five counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
On Friday, April 6, William McClyde Heckstall, Jr. of Elizabeth City, NC arrested after being interviewed by detectives. Police say he was driving the getaway car.
Heckstall is charged with four counts of robbery.
A fifth suspect, Ronnie Stephane Brooks, 51, also from King George County, is being sought.
