NEWPORT NEWS-Fire damaged four apartments in Newport News Monday night.

Crews were called to the 500 block of Bellwood Road just before midnight.

The fire spread through the two-story building and into the attic area, causing the units to be condemned.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No one was hurt; however, one person is getting help from the Red Cross.

The Newport News Fire Department reminds residents that they can get free smoke detectors. Just call the “Smoke Detector Hotline” at 926-8009 to make arrangements for someone to install it for you.
