VIRGINIA BEACH – Four men from Newport News are now charged shootings outside a house party in Sandbridge in April.
Police say gunfire erupted during a fight at the rental home on Sandfiddler Road on April 29. One victim was shot in the head and the second was struck in the back. Two others were hit in the foot and hand.
22-year-old Jaquan Arnett Phillips was charged the next day for allegedly shooting into a vehicle that was driving away from the scene. He had left the party and the the gunfire started, police said.
On Tuesday, police announced the arrests of 21-year-old Nicholas Ryan Swanson, 22-year-old Javon McKnight Bennett and 22-year-old Javon McKnight Bennett.
Swanson is charged with felony shooting into an Occupied Dwelling. Bennett has been charged with four counts of Brandishing a Firearm and one count of Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place. Platteborze is facing one count of Attempt Malicious Assault and one count Use of a Firearm.
The case remains under investigation.
