VIRGINIA BEACH -- Two men have been involved in the robberies of nine stores in Va. Beach since January 11 and they may be robbing businesses in other cities.
They've gotten cash from two ABC stores, an auto parts store and six checking cashing stores. Their most recent crime happened Thursday afternoon at Check Into Cash on Fordham Road.
Each time, one man or both men have gone into the store, pulled a gun and gotten cash.
Investigators in Newport News, Suffolk and Hampton are checking to see if they could be responsible for robberies in their cities.
In Newport News, the Advance America Cash Advance on Newmarket Drive was robbed just after noon on Friday, June 17.
Two check cashing businesses in Hampton were robbed: on W. Mercury Blvd. on May 28 and the other on N. Armistead Ave. on June 13. "Two suspects entered the businesses and demanded money from the clerks. Both were armed with a handgun. Once they received the money from the businesses, they fled in an unknown direction," said Cpl. Allison Quinones. "We believe them to be the same suspects involved in each incident."
In Suffolk, the pair are believed to have robbed Approved Cash Advance on West Constance Road on May 16.
Both men are black males in their 20s and one has letters tattooed on his neck. One is about 5'5" tall and weighs at least 220 pounds; the other is about 6' tall and very thin with hazel eyes and a mustache, police said.
