NEWPORT NEWS -- Police say a man was stabbed in Newport News Tuesday and drove himself to a convenience store in Hampton.

The victim told police he left work at Newport News shipyard about 7:00 a.m. Tuesday and ate at a food truck vendor.

The man said he then drove to 27th Street and Chestnut Ave and noticed that he had blood on his shoulder.

Police say the man told them he continued to drive until he reached the 7-Eleven in the 1700 block of West Pembroke Ave. in Hampton.

According to police, the man went inside the convenience store and laid down on the floor.

Police say the victim was not cooperative when officers arrived.

The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
