Newport News man wanted for shooting at Hampton Sonic restaurant

Victor Collin Sims Jr. is currently wanted and has warrants on file for one count of shooting into an occupied building, one count of attempted maiming and one count of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

HAMPTON -- Police are searching for a man who allegedly fired shots outside a Hampton restaurant Thursday.

Police say 20-year-old Victor Collins Sims Jr. got into a verbal altercation with an employee at Sonic on West Mercury Boulevard around 8 p.m.

Sims then allegedly fired multiple times, striking the building.  Although the business was occupied by employees and customers, no one was injured.

According to police, Sims then fled the scene in a gold, four-door Sedan and was last seen traveling towards Pine Chapel Road.

The motive remains under investigation.
 
Sims resides in the first block of Keswick Circle in Newport News.
