HAMPTON -- Tips to police led to the arrest of a North Carolina man on burglary charges.  

42-year-old Derrick Marcel Barnes is accused of taking money and other items from six restaurants in July.

He was arrested Sunday on four counts of burglary, six counts of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny, police stated.

Restaurant burglaries:
July 11: Mugzy's Bar and Grill, 1300 block of E. Pembroke Ave.
-Items taken: electronics, cash register, U.S. currency
July 15: Hong Kong Restaurant, 600 block of Aberdeen Rd.
-Items taken: cash register, U.S. currency
July 18: Hunan Garden Restaurant, 1900 block of E. Pembroke Ave.
-Items taken: cash register, U.S. currency
July 20: Golden City Restaurant, 1400 block of E. Pembroke Ave.
-Items taken: cash register, U.S. currency
July 22: China Jade Restaurant, 1800 block of Todds Lane
-Item taken: cash register 
July 29: Mr. Barnes Old Bay Seafood, 3700 block of Kecoughtan Rd.
-Item taken: U.S. currency.
