NEWPORT NEWS --Newport News and Hampton police investigating bank robberies now believe they're looking for the same man.
Based on witness and victim descriptions and evidence from each crime scene, police think the same man committed two robberies in Hampton and one in Newport News starting in late March.

Police say there are similarities between all of the robberies.
"He always passed a note. On his note, he always asked for a certain amount of money. He wasn't violent. And after he got his money, he just left the bank,” Detective LeGrande with the Newport News Police Department said.
Based on how close these banks are to one another, they believe the suspect is probably someone who lives nearby and knows the area well. But they say it is always possible the suspect came from out of town.
"In the past, we've had people come in as far as Richmond to commit robberies and then go back to Richmond,” LeGrande said.
Anyone who can help police identify the man should call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
