HAMPTON -- Linda Jones calls the man who pulled her daughter from a burning car, following a gas station crash, a hero.

Jones says she thanks Donelle Davis for saving her 20-year-old daughter Brittany last Friday.

Officials said Brittany's car burst into flames when it ran into a gas pump at the Exxon station at Mercury Blvd. and Big Bethel Road in Hampton.

The crash started a small fire, which quickly grew as the gasoline ignited.

Davis says he didn't have time to think. "I had to act quickly, with God guiding me. You don't run into flames unless you're superman," said Davis.

Brittany was taken to the hospital for treatment of a cut to her foot but is now resting at home.

Everyone in the other vehicle escaped without injuries.

Davis says he has survived two brain tumors and two hip replacement surgeries.  As a parent himself, he says he is grateful to have saved someone else's child.

Brittany has been charged with reckless driving.
