HAMPTON -- A Hampton woman who fabricated a sexual assault that led to the conviction of an innocent man was sentenced Monday.

Elizabeth Coast was sentenced to five years in jail, but the judge suspended all but two months, which she will serve on the weekends so she is able to work and begin paying restitution of $90,000 to the man she falsely accused, Jonathon Montgomery.

Elizabeth Coast pleaded guilty to perjury in May.

Coast had claimed that Montgomery molested her in 2000 when he was 14 and she was 10. Montgomery was convicted and sentenced to 7 1/2 years in prison.

Coast recanted her story last year. She said her parents caught her looking at pornography in 2007, so she made up a story of prior sexual abuse to explain her behavior.

Montgomery has been freed from prison and is seeking a writ of actual innocence, which is on hold until Coast's case is concluded.
