HAMPTON--Facing an $8M shortfall, the school board voted Wednesday night n favor of the Superintendent's recommended school operating budget for fiscal year 2013-2014. The vote was unanimous.
According to Hampton schools spokesperson, Ann Stephens, several speakers addressed the school board speaking in favor of investing in the school division's future by supporting a tax rate adjustment, which would fund the division's $201million requested budget.
The school board's budget will be sent to the Hampton City Manager on March 29th and the city council will hold public hearings on April 24th and May 1st.
The council will vote on the budget on May 8th.
