HAMPTON-- Council voted Wednesday night to rename the city's police headquarters building in honor of former Police Chief Pat G. Minetti.
Minetti joined the Hampton Police Division as a patrolman in 1955. He rose through the ranks and spent 45 years with the division, 29 years as chief.
The resolution passed unanimously.
The resolution cited Minetti's "dedication, commitment, loyalty, steadfastness, expertise, wisdom, consummate professionalism, and unwavering service to the citizens of the City of Hampton" in renaming the building at 40 Lincoln St. as the Pat G. Minetti Public Safety Building.
