HAMPTON -- A Hampton man has won the top prize in a Virginia Lottery scratcher game.

Curtis Wilder was relaxing at home after a 13-hour workday when he scratched off the Virginia Lottery scratcher ticket he’d bought.

“I knew I’d won something but I didn’t know how much,” he later told Lottery officials.

Wilder quickly realized it was no ordinary ticket. He’d won $200,000.

The ticket was for a Virginia Lottery game called $, which he bought at the 7-Eleven at 1161 West Ocean View Avenue in Norfolk.

Wilder, who works at a call center, said he plans to continue to work and “be humble.”

“I feel like I’ve got a new start,” he said.

Wilder is the second top prize winner, which means four $200,000 prizes are unclaimed.
