1/16 UPDATE: Hampton Police said Thursday there were no problems during the morning arrivals at Lindsay. Patrols will continue throughout the day just as a precaution, said Sgt. Jason Price.

UPDATE 1/15:  According to Hampton Police spokesman Sgt. Jason Price, a toy gun that shoots plastic pellets was located in an unattended book bag.

Price says earlier that morning a female student was shot by the same toy gun by a 12-year-old Hampton boy between the student’s home and the bus stop. The student was not injured and the parents do not wish to prosecute at this time.

"The individual responsible has been identified and both incidents are being handled administratively," Price said.

Due to the nature of these incidents there will be an increase in police presence at and around Lindsey Middle School throughout the day Thursday.

HAMPTON-A Hampton school was on lockdown for about 90 minutes as police searched for a BB gun.

A bus driver told a School Resource Officer at Lindsay Middle School about seeing a juvenile with a weapon around 8:40 a.m.

"The juvenile was off of the bus and entering the school," Cpl. Mary Shackelford told WVEC.com.

The lockdown was lifted at 10:13 a.m. after the weapon was found in an unattended book bag, she added.

Now, authorities are looking for the person who had it.
