HAMPTON-Two people can't stay in their home because it was damaged by fire.

Hampton firefighters were called to Shenandoah Road near Kenmore Drive in the Wythe neighborhood around 1:30 a.m.

Fire officials say they saw flames coming from the garage below a two-story apartment complex.

It took about 40 minutes for crews to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Red Cross spokesman Rob Shapiro told WVEC.com the agency food, clothing and lodging assistance to the two adults.
