NEWPORT NEWS -- A Hampton man was arrested Friday for a series of recent bank robberies after police received an anonymous tip.
Investigations linked one suspect to four robberies on the Peninsula between March 28, 2014 and June 13, 2014 based on witness descriptions and evidence at each scene.
The robberies occurred at the following locations:
- March 28, 2014 at the Wells Fargo located in the 2000 block of Kecoughtan Road in Hampton
- April 18, 2014 at the Bayport Credit Union located in the 2300 block of Cunningham Drive in Hampton
- May 27, 2014 at the Virginia Educators Credit Union located in the 800 block of Main Street in Newport News
- June 13, 2014 attempted robbery at the Credit Union Service Center located in the 1600 block of Rt 17 in York County
Reginald Robinson, 51, was taken into custody at his residence in the 5000 block of Evelyn Court in Hampton.
He's charged in York County with attempted robbery and burglary to commit robbery.
Robinson was placed in the custody of the Newport News City Jail and faces robbery charges in Hampton and York County.
"This is another perfect example of what can be accomplished when the community, the media and law enforcement work as a team utilizing the extremely successful Crime Line program," police officials wrote in a press release.
