UPDATE 12/17:  The clerk of court confirmed to 13News Now that Rachel Hutson was denied bond.

12/3 9:15 a.m. UPDATE: Friends of 19-year-old Rachel Hutson were in court for her hearing on a firearm charge. Her father was there, too, and didn't speak to the media waiting outside the courtroom.

12/2 12:30 P.M.  UPDATE: Rachel Hutson has a Tuesday morning hearing in General District Court on the firearm charge, according to court records.  
Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court officials tell us Hutson was arraigned and her preliminary hearing was set for January 9, 2014. She remains in the Chesapeake City Jail without bond.

CHESAPEAKE-Police say teenager shot her mother to death at their home in Chesapeake early Friday.

Police were called to the 600 block of Osborn Ave. around 3:43 a.m.

They arrived to find the body of 58-year-old Susan Lee Hutson and took 19-year-old Rachel Leigh Hutson into custody.   She's now charged with first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A neighbor says Susan Hutson was well-liked people in the neighborhood.

Another neighbor, Philip Savage, said it's sad she was killed the day after Thanksgiving.

The motive for the shooting wasn't released.
