CHESAPEAKE - Power has been restored to thousands of customers in the Western Branch section of Chesapeake.
Dominion Power spokeswoman Bonita Harris tells WVEC.com that crews believe an animal caused a transformer to go down just before 11:00 a.m., affecting the Chesapeake Square Mall area and traffic lights.
Harris says 5,873 customers were out initially and that number was down to 663 as of 11:52 a.m.
By 12:25 p.m., all power had been restored.
